In the Spring of 2008 Stefan Geissbühler applied and was selected to show for the first time at Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson. “Face of a Crowd” was one of the entries submitted for the jury to review with his application. This piece was an acrylic on masonite board with pumice sand applied using spackle knives. “Leviathan” was a second entry and also an acrylic but with glaze applied in thicker layers by putty knife to create texture (impasto).
The World Wide Art Magazine has featured more than 8,000 artists and selected three pieces by Stefan for Issue #3 published in July 2020. The titled pieces found on pages 18-20 are: Bric A Brac And Bridges, Pier 39, and Once Upon A Time At The Docks.
“I’m excited that three of my most current works were chosen to be in the World Wide Art Magazine Issue #3!”
Stefan describes his artwork as New-Centurty Modern, a combination of a Mid-Centruy Modern aesthetic and echoes of abstract expressionism. The signature style combines dynamic shapes and expressive lines using spackle knives, rubber rollers and vibrant colors.
Although Stefan was born in Interlaken, Switzerland, his art business and studio are located near Denver, Colorado.
“Working in my wood shop today, cutting, sanding and painting 24 MDF panels to frame my mini owl paintings. Why? Because it gives me the impression of some sort of a “normal” existence and it keeps me sane! Keep your stick on the ice!”
Stefan’s work is sought out by national and international, private and corporate collectors all over the globe, including University of Colorado Hospital (Denver, CO), Modern IR (Denver, CO), Prime Source Staffing (Denver, CO), Chamber Music Society of St. Louis and Casino Kursaal Bern in Switzerland, just to name a few. Stefan has also created commissions for internationally known conductor Leonard Slatkin (Detroit Symphony & Orchestre National de Lyon), Centene Corporation CEO Michael F. Neidorff (St. Louis, MO), Haselden Construction (Denver, CO) and many other private and corporate clients.
