To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the prestigious Cottonwood Art Festival, the City of Richardson today announces that Kathleen Murphy Willer has been named 2019 Spring Featured Artist. The long-running art event will be held May 4-5 in scenic Cottonwood Park.

“We were happy to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cottonwood Art Festival by featuring the work of Kathleen Murphy Willer,” said Serri Ayers, Superintendent of Community Events for the City of Richardson. “As the Spring 2019 Featured Artist, Willer’s imaginative and textured paintings are a wonderful addition to our stellar line-up of participating artists.”

Willer, a Wisconsin-based, award-winning acrylic painter creates semi-abstracted landscape paintings with acrylic paint, oil and pencil on canvas. Each of Willer’s unique pieces is a result of hours and hours of layers and techniques that have evolved throughout her career.

“It’s a huge honor to be chosen as the Featured Artist for this year’s Cottonwood Art Festival,” said Willer. “I make paintings in smaller sizes in order to offer my original art to everyone. Because I don’t make reproductions of my work, the Cottonwood Art Festival is one of the rare times people can buy something with an image of my art on it.”

Willer received a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee and her work has been shown in hundreds of fine art fairs around the country. Willer’s work is also collected by numerous private collectors, businesses and corporations spreading across five continents.

More information about Willer and her art can be viewed on the new Cottonwood Art Festival website (www.CottonwoodArtFestival.com). Willer’s art will also be on display and available for purchase at the Cottonwood Art Festival May 4-5, 2019.
