THERE’S AN ART TO HAVING FUN!

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Cottonwood Art Festival by bringing out the artist in you!

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up” – Pablo Picasso

On Saturday, May 4th,  Santa Monica artist Peter Tigler will guide festival attendees of all ages in a fun participatory art mural on a specifically designed canvas  titled “There’s An Art to Having Fun!”

Combining the ancient art of color-by-number and the high tech method of finger-painting, Tigler draws the shapes, fills in the numbers, mixes the colors, and creates the stage for the painting to take place. Then, each painter gets a paint-filled small cup that has a number on it that matches the number on the canvas. They’ll go up to the canvas and match the number, and just dab the paint on the surface. It is simply and so much fun!

Tigler brings a unique vision to his dramatic, recognizable pieces, which include traditional media and cutting-edge computer images.  He has created public participation murals for The Getty Museum, Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, Providence College and cities including Santa Monica and Marina del Rey.
